Over the last month we’ve been asking people the question, “what does community mean to you?”, and so far we’ve received an incredible and varied response. But we never answered the question ourselves, so let us show you.
Just yesterday staff and the people we support from day service hosted and cooked a holiday lunch at our Thrift Store in St. Anne, MB. They worked hard to cook for and serve lunch to 60 people. The store was decorated with a Christmas Tree and ornaments that were hand made by the people we support. It was a fantastic lunch filled with smiles, laughter and good company.
This is what community means to us. The cacophony of laughter and stories, the look of ear to ear smiles and warm embraces. Community is the feeling of being with people you care for and about. It’s sharing a meal with friends and family. Pulford deeply values this sense of community. It’s what we try to create each and every day by making sure the people we support experience community. Be it in their own neighbourhood, on the bus to work, at their favourite restaurant, or just sitting down at a big table for a nice meal.
A big thank you to the staff and people we support from day service at the St. Anne store who put together an unforgettable meal and for showing us what community means to them.
